10 Days

That’s how long I have to finish the rough draft of FayTown Calling. Why am I telling you that? Because I’m going to record my progress here. Let me lay this out in detail. I’m off work, ten days of wide open time to write and create, time I intend to use its full extent. The first third is pretty much done, enough that I’d be happy to let someone read it. The second third is rough but will really only need some polish. It’s that last third that’s going to be the tough part. Does this mean FayTown Calling will be out in June? No, sorry. After I’m “finished” there’s a good bit of editing that will need to happen. Not polish, I intend to polish it as best I can in these ten days as well, but still a lot of work to make sure it is presentable. It will however…

Updates On a Few Things

Yeah, I know, I know, been awhile since I posted anything. I’ve been involved with a work project that has tied up a lot of my time, just one of the joys of writing with a day job. I wanted to update on a few things, and since people tend to go to Story Arcs as well, it’s up there too. First, the writing is lagging hard and that’s my fault. FayTown Calling is a good month behind. I was hoping to send out a final call for beta readers the end of February and have it edited and out by May. That’s not looking on track though, I won’t send out to beta readers (which you can still be a part of, just comment or email me!) and don’t think I will until mid April. I have many things to change, tweak, and add, and a final polish to…

Asus Transformer

For Christmas I bought myself an Asus laptop. It was cheap, dependable, exactly what I needed for writing. It was about fourteen inches, so it was big enough to get a good bit on the screen, was quick with 4 GB of ram, and had tons of space. I just traded it in though, so that’s not what I’m writing about. It wasn’t that it was a bad laptop, it just wasn’t what I had in mind. For years, I’ve either written on our desktop PC or my netbook. The netbook has finally worn itself out and I really wanted something that was just as portable but quicker. The Asus I bought was right at $300 and I really thought it would meet that. The moment I opened it up though, I knew it was a problem. First, the keyboard sounded hollow. I know, stupid complaint, but that speaks a…

Smaller Stakes, Smaller Villains, Bigger Impact

Like many people, I have the shows I watch on a regular basis. New ones are constantly popping up, American Horror Story: Coven (which crapped out a bit in the last fifteen minutes but otherwise was great) or Almost Human (which I really want to love but am having trouble) are a couple examples. Then there are my standards, the ones I’ve been watching for years. Breaking Bad was one of those, Walking Dead is another. The one that always sneaks up on me though, and probably gives me the most satisfaction when it comes, is Justified. At first, I just didn’t care for it. Its arcs didn’t make any sense, it meandered and rambled all over the place, and just seemed to be about rednecks with single digits of teeth murdering and coniving over small scale matters. Over the years though, it has gotten much better. The second season…
